Alenia Aermacchi firma un contratto da 170 milioni di euro per gli Eurofighter all’Oman

Alenia Aermacchi, una società Finmeccanica, ha firmato con Eurofighter GmbH un contratto del valore di circa 170 milioni di euro per la fornitura dei componenti, sistemi e servizi di responsabilità Alenia Aermacchi per i 12 Eurofighter Typhoon ordinati a dicembre scorso dall’Oman. Il contratto comprende servizi e attività di competenza Alenia Aermacchi anche per il pacchetto di supporto logistico iniziale di cinque anni richiesto dalla forza aerea omanita.
Le componenti di responsabilità Alenia per gli Eurofighter omaniti saranno realizzate a partire dal 2014 ed i primi aeroplani completi saranno consegnati alla Royal Air Force of Oman nel 2017. L’ordine omanita rappresenta il terzo successo di export per il consorzio europeo e fa dell’Oman il settimo cliente dell’aereo. Con quest’ultimo ordine sono 719 gli Eurofighter commissionati, di cui 571 sotto contratto di produzione, da parte di Italia, Regno Unito, Germania, Spagna, Arabia Saudita, Austria e Oman. Un totale che fa dell’Eurofighter il principale programma di collaborazione europeo nel campo della Difesa.
Dalla data di ingresso in servizio, nel 2004, gli oltre 350 esemplari consegnati a 20 unità operative di sei forze aeree hanno accumulato oltre 160.000 ore di volo.

E’ interessante che l’Eurofighter abbia ancora un certo gradimento da parte di governi non europei. Si tratta pur sempre di un velivo con una sezione radar non proprio stealth.
