Iniziati i test sulle nuove capacità degli Eurofighter Tranche 2

Il programma Phase 1 Enhancement (P1E) per implementare nuove capacità chiave sugli aerei Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 2 è passato alla fase di prove in volo. In particolare il test, svoltosi presso le strutture Alenia Aeronautica di Torino, ha riguardato il trasporto di una Paveway IV a bordo dell’Instrumented Production Aircraft 2 (IPA2) al fine di analizzarne il comportamento (vibrazioni e flutter) in vista della successiva integrazione della bomba guidata da 500 lb.
Ulteriori test seguiranno con gli aerei IPA 1, IPA 4 e IPA 7 rispettivamente condotti da BAE Systems, EADS CASA e EADS Deutschland con i quali verrà dimostrata la possibilità di rilascio e gestione in sicurezza dell’ordigno con le 6 stazioni esterne occupate per poi passare ad analizzare il comportamento della bomba a guida duale da 1000 lb EGBU-16.
Test sull’avionica riguardanti tutti e quattro gli aerei di prova seguiranno conducendo all’entrata in servizio delle capacità P1E(a) previste nel 2011, permettendo così all’Eurofighter Typhoon di espandere il suo profilo multiruolo secondo la tabella di marcia prefissata dal primo contratto di miglioramenti.
L’Eurofighter Typhoon è il più avanzato velivolo da combattimento multi-ruolo di nuova generazione disponibile sul mercato ed è stato ordinato da sei nazioni (Germania, Italia, Spagna, Gran Bretagna, Austria e Regno dell’Arabia Saudita). Con 707 aerei sotto contratto, è il programma militare di collaborazione più grande in Europa, rafforzando l’industria aerospaziale europea nell’ambito della competizione globale. Questo programma assicura oltre 100.000 posti di lavoro in 400 aziende.
Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH gestisce il programma per conto dei soci Alenia Aeronautica/Finmeccanica, BAE Systems, EADS CASA e EADS Deutschland, le più importanti società aerospaziali in Europa che contano un fatturato complessivo di 60.7 miliardi di euro (2006).
