XVIII International Seapower Symposium

Dal 16 al 19 ottobre il Capo di Stato Maggiore della Marina Militare, Ammiraglio di Squadra Paolo La Rosa, ha partecipato all’International Seapower Symposium (ISS), presso il Naval War College di Newport sul tema “Forging Cooperative Solutions for International Maritime Security” presentando la visione della Marina Militare sull’argomento dedicato al tema di scambio delle informazioni relativamente alla sicurezza navale (Information sharing in pursuit of maritime security).
Durante il simposio il nuovo Chief of Naval Operation della US Navy, Ammiraglio Gary ROUGHEAD, ha presentato la nuova strategia navale statunitense centrata sulla consapevolezza dell’accresciuta importanza della maritime security per la stabilità, lo sviluppo economico e la prosperità a livello globale. Tale strategia sviluppata e coordinata tra US Navy, US Coast Guard e Corpo dei Marines risulta essere in sintonia con le linee generali della strategia navale formulata dalla Marina Militare, centrata sulle due funzioni strategiche di sorveglianza e proiezione e sul ruolo determinante del binomio “dialogo e cooperazione”.
Per quanto riguarda il tema della sicurezza dei traffici marittimi la Marina Militare è promotrice del sistema denominato V-RMTC (VIRTUAL REGIONAL MARITIME TRAFFIC CENTRE ).
Durante i lavori è stato annunciato ufficialmente lo svolgimento della 7^ Edizione del “Regional Seapower Symposium” delle Marine del Mediterraneo e del Mar Nero, fissata per il mese di ottobre del 2008 a Venezia.
